dear you,

This is the first letter I am writing you from Willow House and there is a tingling sensation in the belly. Its a little scary but mostly very exciting. It feels like walking through a portal. Of which there seems to have been many in the past weeks and I feel some big shifts happening. Politically, spiritually, personally.

There are many things to share and I also know how crowded some of our inboxes are and don't want to add too much to that. At the same time I long to connect with you and am so happy you have signed up to receive these letters. I have committed to write you monthly, with an occasional extra letter, if there is something special to share. I imagine these letters best with a cup of tea in your hand, somewhere soft and cozy, taking the time you need for it.

Each time I will share a bit about what's alive and present within and around me. I will share about upcoming events, ways we can collaborate, news from plant allies, the library, and sometimes recommendations of others' work.

And I would love to hear back from you. If there are things that resonate, spark a question or create another type of echo, I am here and happy to read you.

what's alive and present

I have just returned from two weeks in Latvia and it has been such a journey. Seeing friends and family. Reconnecting with the roots - the picture in the beginning of this letter is from a light installation dedicated to the Latvian tradition of Veļu laiks - time to honor the spirits of our ancestors, a time that used to be a pause in any major work, time to listen, gather, be with darkness. And indeed there was a lot of pausing, sensing, and listening in the past weeks. But also a lot of doing and stepping through thresholds.

Political situation in Latvia is both dark and full of light. The government decided to withdraw from the Istanbul Convention - a devastating populist move that undermines decades of work toward protecting women and gender minorities from violence. Yet, at the same time, there is something incredibly inspiring unfolding: people are rising! In the past week, first five thousand and then more than ten thousand gathered in the streets of Riga and beyond, standing together in defense of care, safety, and dignity. Protests this large are very rare in Lavia and this rising collective courage feels like a momentum of the Great Turning. A big shift. As the political winds grow harsher in many places, this reminds how care and solidarity is a force of resistance, a way of holding each other through darkness and insisting on different futures.

The time in Latvia also brought a personal shift. While there, I was part of the 100th gathering of Trans Europe Halles - a network of independent cultural centers across Europe - and was honored to be elected as its new president, alongside a newly formed executive committee ready to shape the next chapter of the network together - hopefully a courageous, rooted, connected one.

All of this feels like a call to keep doing our part and heart work in the great turning - whatever it is for each of us. For me that is to create spaces for deep connections. Below you will find some of the invitations to join this work.

I am currently working on Unearthing - a long-term artistic research project exploring belonging, memory, and our relationships with trees through sensory walks and listening practices. In its first phase, I invite people living in Aarhus with roots elsewhere to walk, talk, and co-shape the ground for a sound installation and performance in 2026. Read more and sign up here.

Willow House is also home to a very cherished library. It currently holds 133 books alongside a small but expanding collection of zines and independent publications.

Together they gather voices on land, healing, feminism, spirituality, witchcraft, ecology, social justice, and more - weaving through themes of trees, herbalism, mythology, plant communication, and ancestral knowledges. 

It’s an ever-growing library, started by the desire to create space for interconnected ways of knowing and gathering publications not easily findable in the bigger libraries.
