At the heart of my practice is an acknowledgement of the interconnectedness and sacredness of all life.
I understand my work as part of a broader work of repair - tending to the fractures that the modern growth-oriented, and individualistic societies have created in our relationships with ourselves, with each other, and with the Earth. My work invites us to remember these bonds and to rebuild them through shared experience and connection.
Driven by the questions “What does it mean to be well in a world riven by intersecting injustices and crises? What does care and responsibility look like in these times?” I create spaces where we can explore how to build nourishing, reciprocal relationships with ourselves, one another, and the more-than-human world.
Spaces where we can both learn to navigate the socio-ecological challenges of our time and find pathways for transformation — together.
As an artist, facilitator, and anthropologist, my practice weaves transformative change processes, creative practices, healing work, leadership, organizational development, and earth-based wisdom traditions.
I hold workshops and learning programs, mentor creatives and artists, facilitate group processes, and curate events. For more than 15 years I’ve worked with cultural practitioners, activists, academics, informal groups, and institutions across many contexts and geographies.
As an artist and researcher, my dedication belongs to exploring plant–human relationships and allyships for change through embodied practices — especially voice and sounding — weaving these explorations into participatory performances.
I grew up in a small town in Latvia, on the edge of a forest that became my trusted home and refuge — a place of deep inter-species friendships and explorations. I learned most I know about plants and trees from my mother, grandmother, and the plants themselves, and I continue to weave this ancestral knowledge in my own ways.
I am now rooting in Aarhus, Denmark.
communities of practice
while this webpage mainly showcases my portfolio as an individual, at the core I am a collective being, weaving connections and collaborating with others across all projects. On a day to day basis my practice interweaves closely with the two communities below.
new visions
I am the co-founder and core member of new visions - an artistic and educational collective that creates engaging, interactive, and compassionate learning spaces and interactive artworks, rooted in queer-feminist and decolonial perspectives.
We run TAIGA - a transformational leadership program for women and queer folks in arts in Eastern Europe and the Baltics; FJORDS - a similar program for migrant women in Aarhus; School of Anti-Racist practices in Poland; have held dozens of workshops in the realm of social justice, collaborating with collectives, artists, and cultural institutions across Europe.
Institut for (X)
Institut for (X) is a creative platform in Aarhus, Denmark, working towards a vision of vibrant and green neighbourhoods that inspire experimentation and collaboration, by challenging conventional city development and redefining public space.. Here I hold regular ritual spaces; women’s circles, hold a drop-in care space; aid the collective dreaming and visioning processes as a facilitator; take care of the food garden, medicinal herb patches and tea library; brew kombucha; and am now working on developing a new space at X - "re:connect" for ecological learning, regenerative activism, and radical resting.
