ROOTED is a new interdisciplinary festival in Aarhus that brings together plants, people, and art. Through performances, workshops, and rituals, we explore the role of arts in times of ecological crises. We explore how artistic practice can deepen our relationship with the living world. We reconnect with plants as medicine, wisdom-keepers, and allies in dreaming more livable futures for all into being.

The first edition of ROOTED festival will take place on June 14, 2025, at Institut for (X) in Aarhus, and will bring together artists and plant practitioners from Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, France, and Latvia, offering an inspiring program of participatory performances, sensory experiences, film screening, workshops, concerts, and rituals.

ROOTED is both a response and an offering. A response to the urgency I have felt from plants themselves - to bring plants and people together, to engage with the world in a way that is sensorial, collective, and transformative. An offering to gather, listen, and co-create. An offering to the city I live in to experience the richness of art and processes that exist in co-creation with plants. This is just the beginning, a seed. May it grow and flourish in its own unique way. I hope you will join us.
