Work that Reconnects: Practicing Hope Together
The Work That Reconnects is a transformative and experiential group process that offers a powerful framework for personal and collective empowerment in the face of the world’s ecological and social challenges.
Developed by Joanna Macy - an eco-philosopher and a leading voice in movements for peace and justice - and her colleagues, the Work That Reconnects draws upon deep ecology, systems thinking, and spiritual traditions to unfold a step-by-step process that helps people reconnect with their inner selves, their community, and the broader web of life. To move from a sense of isolation to a sense of community and participation; from eco- anxiety and overwhelm to inspired action.
This 4-day gathering explores the core ideas and practices of the Work That Reconnects and follows the Spiral - a journey through four stages - Rooting in Gratitude, Honoring Our Pain for the World, Seeing with New & Ancient Eyes, and Going Forth. Together, we will engage in guided practices, creative expression, spend time in nature, supporting both inner renewal and outer engagement.
Practicing Hope Together will be facilitated by Liene Jurgelāne and Gunilla Andersson. Set in the beautiful surroundings of Äspögården, this gathering invites you to slow down, listen deeply, and practice hope as a shared path.

what former participants say….
In this moment I am only available to connect to awe. Awe of the impact of the work in me and the potential for the world. Awe of wisdom, humbleness and care it is delivered with. Awe of generosity. Awe of simplicity. Awe of the journey and experience it took to bring it here in this format. Thank you for being our guide, teacher, placeholder and community weaver today - i feel deeply drawn for more. Leaving with awe, hope, inspiration, nurtured, reminded, home, gratefulness.
-Participant of a one-day workshop
Thank you for your clarity and care in your speaking. I felt deeply held and safe and thank you for clearing the space for grief, fear, anger, emptiness - because we stand/sit on hope. Otherwise we would not be there. And not least thanks for revealing the other side of each of these. Love, courage, passion, openness. The access to go deep into this work comes easy because you have the courage and skill to hold the structure. Set a frame. And look with kind eyes. I am truly inspired.
-Participant of a one-day workshop
It was so refreshing. I feel a renewed sense of meaning in the work I do and we do as a collective. Feeling part of a broad group of human beings who are alive to what is life affirming. Utterly inspired.
— Participant of an intro-workhop
I am walking away with deep sense of connection with all the humans here and with the world. Maybe my DNA has changed too, it feels like it. Standing stronger.
